“Security is a double-edged sword: While a fence sure protects the fenced; it also imprisons the protected.”
― Mokokoma Mokhonoana

This project reflects on the concept of “border”, alluding to the massive upgrading and rearmament of border regimes, even beyond respective territories, both,  in terms of political as well as private territories.

My body is fully wrapped into and barbed wire. Clippers and gloves are lying around me, giving the possibility if intervention to public. After a while, spectators start to put the wires down. In a collaborative process with further spectators, the public frees my body. The work refers to the actual state, the fear which leads to protection but also isolation and paralyses, illustrating the unavoidable influence borders have on the lives of all individuals.
